Troubleshooting 101: What to Do if an OTP Doesn't Arrive

At YourOTPs, we pride ourselves on delivering numbers and receiving SMS codes at lightning speed. However, because we rely on third-party platforms (like WhatsApp, Telegram, or Tinder) to actually send the SMS message, there are rare occasions where a message might be delayed or fail to arrive entirely.

If you are staring at the "Waiting for SMS..." screen for longer than expected, don't worry. Your credits are completely safe. Here is everything you need to know about troubleshooting delayed OTPs and utilizing our automated refund system.

1. Why Do OTPs Fail to Arrive?

There are three primary reasons why a temporary number might fail to receive an OTP:

  • Target Service Delays: The platform you are registering on might be experiencing high server load, causing their automated SMS dispatcher to queue messages.
  • Blocked Numbers: Many services actively combat spam by temporarily blocking certain numbers or IP ranges from requesting verification codes.
  • Network Routing: Occasionally, global telecom routing issues can cause a specific SMS to drop before it reaches our infrastructure.

2. The Golden Rule: Wait 60 Seconds

Most OTPs arrive within 5 to 10 seconds. If your code hasn't appeared, we recommend waiting at least 60 full seconds. Sometimes the originating platform is just slightly sluggish.

If the target app has a "Resend Code" button, press it after the 60 seconds have passed. Wait another 30 seconds to see if the second attempt succeeds.

3. How to Cancel and Get Your Credits Refunded

If a reasonable amount of time has passed (usually around 2-3 minutes) and you still haven't received anything, it's time to cancel the number and try another one.

We have a strict 10-minute automated refund policy built into our credit system to protect you from paying for dead numbers.

Here is how to claim your refund:

  1. Navigate back to your YourOTPs dashboard.
  2. Locate the active number under the "Active Services" or "Inbox" panel.
  3. Click the "Cancel" (or "Report Issue") button next to the number.

As long as you click this button within 10 minutes of your initial purchase, the system will immediately void the number and refund 100% of the credits back to your available balance. You can then instantly purchase a fresh number and try again.

Important: If an OTP code does successfully arrive within those 10 minutes, the purchase is considered completed, and the cancellation button will no longer be available.

4. When to Contact Support

Our automated system is designed to handle 99% of these issues without human intervention. However, you should contact our support team (yourotps26@gmail.com) if:

  • A specific service is failing repeatedly across multiple different numbers.
  • You accidentally let the 10-minute timer expire on a number that genuinely never received a code.
  • Your credit balance does not update after initiating a cancellation.

Our goal is to ensure you only ever pay for numbers that successfully verify your accounts. If it doesn't work, you get your credits back—it's that simple!
