Avoiding the 'Too Many Attempts' Error: A Troubleshooting Guide

Avoiding the 'Too Many Attempts' Error: A Troubleshooting Guide

One of the most frustrating experiences when trying to verify a new online account is hitting the dreaded "Too Many Attempts. Please try again later" error message.

If you are using YourOTPs and you encounter this roadblock on the target app (like Telegram, WhatsApp, or Tinder), the issue is almost never the phone number itself. Instead, it is a localized block placed on your device by the app's anti-spam system.

Here is exactly how to bypass this error and successfully receive your OTP.

Why Does This Error Happen?

Social networks use aggressive rate-limiting to stop bots from spamming their SMS gateways. If you request a code, cancel it, buy a new number on YourOTPs, and immediately request a second code from the same app, the app's algorithm will flag you.

The app sees that the exact same IP address and device ID are requesting multiple SMS codes to different numbers in a span of five minutes. To protect itself, it temporarily blocks your device from sending any SMS requests, regardless of whether the new number is perfectly valid.

Step 1: Clear the App Data

If you hit the "Too Many Attempts" error, do not keep pressing the "Resend" button. This will only increase the duration of your ban.

On Mobile:

  1. Go to your phone's Settings > Apps.
  2. Find the app you are trying to verify (e.g., Telegram).
  3. Tap "Storage" and select "Clear Data" and "Clear Cache".

On Desktop/Web:

  1. Open your browser settings.
  2. Clear your cookies and local storage for that specific website.
  3. Alternatively, open a brand new "Incognito" or "Private Browsing" window.

Step 2: Rotate Your IP Address

The app has likely flagged your IP address.

  • If you are on Wi-Fi, turn it off and switch to your mobile cellular data.
  • If you are using a VPN, disconnect and connect to a server in a different city or country.

Step 3: Purchase a Fresh Number

Now that your device has a clean slate and a fresh IP address:

  1. Head to your YourOTPs dashboard.
  2. Purchase a fresh temporary number. Remember to try and align the country of the number with the country of your new IP address!
  3. Enter the number into the freshly cleared app.

Because you have cleared the tracking cache and rotated your IP, the target app will view you as a brand-new user making their very first request. The "Too Many Attempts" error will be gone, and the SMS will dispatch instantly to your YourOTPs dashboard.

A Note on Patience

If you are verifying accounts in bulk, always space out your requests. Taking an extra 60 seconds between registrations can save you hours of dealing with rate-limit bans. Work smart, rotate your IPs, and you will achieve a 100% verification success rate.
